What to Expect
Warehouse interviews are usually informal and practical. Many are just a brief chat with a supervisor or team leader. They want to know: Can you do the physical work? Are you reliable? Can you start soon? Some larger employers (Amazon, DHL) may include a group assessment or a short practical test.
Common Interview Questions
Tell me about yourself (keep it brief — focus on relevant experience). Why do you want this role? (mention the flexibility, physical nature, and reliable income). Can you work nights/weekends? (say yes if you can — flexibility is key). How do you handle physical work? (mention fitness, stamina, any relevant experience). What would you do if you noticed a safety hazard? (report it immediately to a supervisor). How do you handle working under pressure? (stay calm, prioritise, ask for help when needed).
What to Wear
Smart casual is fine — clean jeans or trousers, a polo shirt or plain t-shirt, clean trainers or boots. Don't overdress (suit and tie is too much). Don't underdress (no shorts, no flip flops). If you own steel toe cap boots, wear them — it shows you're ready to work.
Tips for Success
Arrive 10 minutes early. Bring your ID and right-to-work documents. Mention any relevant certifications (forklift, manual handling, first aid). Emphasise reliability — this is what employers care about most. Ask about shift patterns and start dates (shows eagerness). Follow up with a thank you message if given contact details.
